Né sur la côte du New Jersey, où j’ai grandi tout près de Asbury Park, formé à Berkeley (lycée et université), j’ai passé toutes les années 1980 à Paris (France) et habite à Brooklyn depuis presque trente ans. Curiosité, imagination, bonté, générosité, voilà ce qui compte pour moi. J’ai dû me rendre compte il y a longtemps, dans mon for intérieur, que si je ne pouvais avoir plusieurs vies en ce monde, j’allais goûter, écouter, regarder, aimer comme si toutes ces vies étaient malgré tout miennes.
Born and raised on the Jersey shore (near Asbury Park), schooled in Berkeley, spent the entire 1980s in Paris, living in Brooklyn ever since. Curiosity, imagination, kindness, generosity, that’s what counts for me. I must have realized long ago, deep inside me, if I couldn’t have several lives in this world, that I was going to taste, listen, look, love as if all those lives were mine even so.
